This course is an introduction to the basic principles of cave diving using one main guideline. Intro to Cave Diving is the second level in the development of proper cave diving techniques, directly based on the Cave Diver course. This Introduction to Underground Diving is not intended to train divers in all facets of underground diving. The objective of this course is the refinement of the skills taught in the Underground Diving Program, in addition to the adoption of additional techniques and procedures required for basic underground diving.

This course is the third step in the aerial environment training in the TDI Full Cave Diver development program series. Advanced planning for underground diving, practical execution of different types of cave systems and scenarios encountered by divers are presented. This underground diving course is not intended to prepare divers to evaluate all facets of underground diving. The objective of this course is to expand and critique previous skills learned in the TDI Cavern and Introduction to Underground Diving programs. The emphasis is on dive planning and skill development through actual cave penetration.
