Sidemount TDI

Who is this course for:

  • Divers from SDI or TDI looking to enhance their in-water skills and techniques.
  • Certified divers interested in advancing their technical diving education and exploring more equipment configuration options.

Course Prerequisites

Before starting your training, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum age of 18.
  • SDI Open Water Scuba Diver certification or equivalent, at a minimum.

What You Will Learn

The TDI Sidemount Diver Course covers extensively:

  • Gas matching procedures including dissimilar volumes.
  • Independent cylinder gas management.
  • Technical diving’s psychological considerations.
  • Equipment considerations: cylinder, regulator, buoyancy compensator/harness options, proper weighting, and configurations.
  • Communication through light and hand signals.
  • Sidemount configuration problem solving.
  • Diving in confined spaces.
  • Conservation principles.
  • Water entries and exits techniques.
  • Sidemount-specific S-drills.

Required Skills Demonstration

You will need to demonstrate:

  • Various propulsion techniques maintaining proper buoyancy and trim.
  • Ability to manage gas in independent cylinders safely.
  • Conservation, awareness, and back referencing techniques.
  • Deployment of a lift bag.
  • Carrying additional cylinders is optional.

TDI Nitrox gas blender

Who is this course for:

  • For dive shop employees who want to learn the correct procedures for nitrox gas blending.
  • For divers interested in understanding the process of nitrox blending procedures.

Course Prerequisites

Before starting your training, you must meet the following requirement:

  • Minimum age of 18.

What You Will Learn

The TDI Nitrox Gas Blender Course covers:

  • The role and responsibility of the Gas Blender.
  • Gases of diving: Air, Oxygen, and Nitrogen.
  • Oxygen handling, hazards, causes and prevention of oxygen fire.
  • Oxygen system design and local regulations for gas blending and handling.
  • Gas production equipment: Compressors, Cylinders, Filtration systems, and Analog gauges.
  • Mixing techniques, continuous blending systems, de-nitrogenated air systems, pre-mix system, and partial pressure blending mathematics.
  • Oxygen analysis procedures and oxygen analyzers.
  • Cylinder handling and sign out.

TDI Nitrox Gas Blender Minimum Requirements

To earn your certification, you must:

  • Pass the TDI Nitrox Gas Blender course written examination with an 80% passing grade, followed by 100% remediation by the Instructor.
  • Successfully blend and analyze 5 nitrox cylinders.
  • Demonstrate understanding of nitrox blending and oxygen analysis.

TDI Cavern diver

Who is this course for:

  • The certified diver interested in advancing into overhead environment diving and expanding their diving techniques and capabilities.

Course Prerequisites

Before beginning your training, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum age of 18, or 15 with parental consent.
  • Proof of SDI Open Water Scuba Diver certification or equivalent.
  • Proof of 25 logged dives.

What You Will Learn

The TDI Cavern Diver course covers:

  • Cavern diving policy, gas management, and psychological considerations.
  • Equipment considerations: cylinders, regulators, buoyancy compensators/harnesses, proper weighting, reels, and configurations.
  • Communication techniques, swimming techniques, body posture/trim, buoyancy control, line following, and propulsion techniques.
  • Physiology, breathing techniques, stress management, cavern environment and conservation, problem solving, and emergency procedures.
  • Review of dive tables and decompression theory.

Skills to Complete

You will need to demonstrate:

  • Guideline deployment and following, air sharing, mask removal/replacement, conservation, awareness, and back referencing techniques.
  • Light/hand signals and touch contact, anti-silting techniques, simulation of primary light failure, and use of backup light for exit.
  • Buoyancy control, proper trim, propulsion techniques, equipment check and matching, and adequate pre-dive planning.

  • Engage in cavern diving activities without direct supervision within the limits of the training.
  • Penetration limited to the “rule of thirds,” or 1/6th if using doubles, to a maximum depth of 40 metres/130 feet and 61 linear metres/200 linear feet from the surface.

Who is this course for:

  • The certified TDI Cavern Diver or equivalent interested in advancing into cave diving and expanding their diving techniques and capabilities.

Before starting your training, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum age of 18, or 15 with parental consent.
  • Proof of TDI Cavern Diver certification or equivalent.

What You Will Learn

The TDI Intro to Cave Diver Course covers:

  • Cave diving policy, gas management, and psychological considerations.
  • Equipment considerations: cylinders, regulators, buoyancy compensators/harnesses, proper weighting, reels, and configurations.
  • Communication techniques, swimming techniques, body posture/trim, buoyancy control, line following, and propulsion techniques.
  • Physiology, breathing techniques, stress management, cave environment and conservation, problem solving, and emergency procedures.
  • Review of dive tables and decompression theory.

TDI Full Cave course

Who is this course for:

  • The certified TDI Introductory Cave Diver (or equivalent) interested in advancing in overhead environment diving and expanding their diving techniques, capabilities, range, and more.

Course Prerequisites

Before starting your training, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum age of 18.
  • TDI Introductory Cave Diver certification or equivalent.
  • If decompression dives are included in the training, the student must be TDI Decompression Procedures certified or equivalent, or this training may be conducted concurrently. All requirements for both courses must be met if taught concurrently.

What You Will Learn

The TDI Full Cave Diver Course covers:

  • Standard cave diving policies, gas management, psychological considerations, and equipment considerations.
  • Communication, swimming techniques, body posture/trim, buoyancy control, line following, and propulsion techniques.
  • Physiology, breathing techniques, stress management, decompression theory and its application to cave diving.
  • Cave environment and conservation, problem solving, emergency procedures, equipment failure, silting conditions, and accident analysis.

Skills to Complete

You will need to demonstrate:

  • Guideline deployment and use, directional and non-directional line markers, air sharing, mask removal/replacement, conservation, awareness, and back referencing techniques.
  • Light/hand signals and touch contact, anti-silting techniques, simulation of primary light failure, lost line and lost diver drills.
  • Use of reels for jumps and gaps in circuits and traverses, buoyancy control, proper trim, propulsion techniques, stress analysis, and specialized propulsion techniques in varying types of flow.
